I love this time of year in The Berkshires.   Here is a list of 15 Holiday Things To Do In The Berkshires.  The first winter I spent in The Berkshires was  a time of exploration.  I had decided that i wanted to buy a country home.  Being the cautious person that i am I rented a beautiful house first in Stockbridge, Ma.  The rental  was for 6 months, hoping that would be long enough for me to see if  The Berkshires was the right spot for me.  The  rental house  was way big for me and my dog Spike,  but i figured i was going to be inviting many friends to visit me in  The Berkshires for weekends and i wanted to have plenty of room for entertaining.  The house was owned by the Boston Symphony Orchestra and used in the Summer months during Tangelwood.   As i look back so many years later,  I believe it was that first snowy Holiday Season, and Winter in Stockbridge, Ma. that made me fall in love with The Berkshires.

Here Are 15 Things To Do during this Holiday Season.

1. 26th Annual Festival of Trees

Lenox Ma. Tag Sale

100 1537 1 300x225 Lenox Ma. Tag SaleAfter leaving the Beacon Theatre in Pittsfield, I stopped by a potential Home for Sale on Clifford Street in Lenox, Ma.   By the way i love Cliffwood Street, i think it is one of the loveliest in town Lenox blocks.  The Real Estate meeting went well, and as i am driving along Stockbridge Rd. to head back  to my Real Estate Office in Great Barrington, Ma.   i noticed a sign for a Tag Sale.  Considering it would probably be the last one i will see until spring, and having  a little extra time i decided  to stop .   Could a wonderful Berkshire Mountain neighborhood translate into great finds?  The smell of  a crackling fire drew me toward the barn that the sale was being held in.  I immediately  spotted  two distinguished  photos of beautiful Mansions,  one was of a Carriage Barn that was on the Simons Rock College campus in Great Barrington, and the other is of  a large Stone Mansion that is now the administration building on the campus. Thought about it for a minute imagining that they would  look really good hanging in my new Berkshire Country Homes office.  They are now safely tucked away awaiting completion of the new office.

Tangelwood – Lenox, Ma.

MichaelTilsonThomasx63 tangelwood Tangelwood Lenox, Ma.Lenox, Ma. – Tangelwood had one of their best seasons this year.  Attendance was up 2% from the previous year,  highest since 2003, and 5th highest on record.

Dry weather this summer is thought to of helped the increased numbers.  This is great news for Berkshire Tourism.  The many cultural activities that are housed in the Berkshires are unique to this area.  Tangelwood takes the lead  driving summer tourism.  This was reflected with increased attendance at Jacobs Pillow,  The Rockwell Musuem and many other sites.

Despite the recession, The Berkshires Cultural sites are gaining momentum and helping move the hospitality sector into a higher gear recovery.
