One good thing about all the rain we have had this year in the Berkshires is that our gardens should be very lush.
I live in Great Barrington, Ma. and i can see from my own gardens that the blooms this season are full with what looks like rich color. As far as the effect on Berkshire Real Estate Sales, beautiful well maintained landscaping and gardens are eye candy. They help to create those magic words Curb Appeal.
For Berkshire visitors, Second Home Owners and year round residents the Lenox Garden Clubs annual tour ” Hidden Treasures of The Berkshires” will be July 9th.
Six gardens will be open in Richmond & Stockbridge, Ma. http://www.lenoxgardenclub.net/gardenhousetour.html
If you live in a different part of the country or are traveling this summer the following article provides a comprehensive list of garden tours throughout the country.

The residents of Great Barrington, Ma. have voted 178 to 119 to continue to move forward with improving a plan that calls for the reconstruction of Main Street in Great Barrington. There has been great opposition to the plan by some residents and business owners who are concerned about the traffic delays the construction will cause, and the fear that shoppers will develop new shopping patterns.

Great Barrington, Ma. I took this photo this morning as the big Snow Storm hit the Berkshires. It looks like a Winter Wonderland.
The photo is of one of the sold units at Maple Grove/ Great Barrington - Stylish In-Town Living
This Great Barrington Condominium is in a great location, tucked away and yet close to shopping, theater, golf, and fine dining.
Two more units are under construction.

The Berkshires is well known to be a wonderful place to spend the holidays. Lenox, Stockbridge, and Great Barrington are some of the favorite towns to buy a Second Home or Vacation in. The desire to create a Norman Rockwell Christmas is hard to resist. Whether you are vacationing, visiting friends, a full time resident or a berskhire second homeowner we increase our holiday entertaining schedule by inviting family and friends to partake with us in The Berkshire Holiday Spirit. With that we also increase our risks.
The U.S. Fire Administration says, that there are more than double the number of open-flame fires on Christmas Day as on any other average day, and on New Year’s Day there are twice as many as that. Some of the main causes are the additional cooking we do, the romantic lure and warmth of the fireplace, the glow of candles, christmas trees, additional lights, and children playing with matches.
This article from the National Association of Realtors gives you several great safety tips on how to reduce your fire risks. By following these tips you will create a safer environment , and enjoy The Holidays in the Berkshires.

This is one of my favorite Great Barrington, Ma. breakfast places. Not only is the food fresh, the service is friendly and responsive. Martin’s is a Great Barrington institution for both locals and Second Home Owners. Eggs & Pancakes go great with the Berkshire Mountain View you see through the large front window that overlooks Railroad Street. During the height of the summer season be prepared to wait to get a table, it is not uncommon to see people lining up to get into this cozy spot.

What was Pearls Restaurant in Great Barrington, Ma. is re-opening as Fiori in February or March.
I was just talking with some friends recently saying that what Great Barrington needs is a good Italian Restaurant. I am hoping that Fiori will be that restaurant.
This very visible Great Barrington, Ma. location which is situated on Railroad Street has been leased by two brothers who grew up part time in West Stockbridge, Ma. Their father was a musician with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. The menu will be Northern Italian. According to reports one of the brothers has been working as a chef in some top restaurants in Boston, New York City and Italy. Fingers crossed that the food will meet the culinary standards of the Berkshire Restaurant crowd.

I love this time of year in The Berkshires. Here is a list of 15 Holiday Things To Do In The Berkshires. The first winter I spent in The Berkshires was a time of exploration. I had decided that i wanted to buy a country home. Being the cautious person that i am I rented a beautiful house first in Stockbridge, Ma. The rental was for 6 months, hoping that would be long enough for me to see if The Berkshires was the right spot for me. The rental house was way big for me and my dog Spike, but i figured i was going to be inviting many friends to visit me in The Berkshires for weekends and i wanted to have plenty of room for entertaining. The house was owned by the Boston Symphony Orchestra and used in the Summer months during Tangelwood. As i look back so many years later, I believe it was that first snowy Holiday Season, and Winter in Stockbridge, Ma. that made me fall in love with The Berkshires.
Here Are 15 Things To Do during this Holiday Season.
1. 26th Annual Festival of Trees
Each year, the Berkshire Museum spruces up the galleries with scores of festive trees decorated by community organizations, businesses, and school children. This year’s theme is Storybook Forest.

After leaving the Beacon Theatre in Pittsfield, I stopped by a potential Home for Sale on Clifford Street in Lenox, Ma. By the way i love Cliffwood Street, i think it is one of the loveliest in town Lenox blocks. The Real Estate meeting went well, and as i am driving along Stockbridge Rd. to head back to my Real Estate Office in Great Barrington, Ma. i noticed a sign for a Tag Sale. Considering it would probably be the last one i will see until spring, and having a little extra time i decided to stop . Could a wonderful Berkshire Mountain neighborhood translate into great finds? The smell of a crackling fire drew me toward the barn that the sale was being held in. I immediately spotted two distinguished photos of beautiful Mansions, one was of a Carriage Barn that was on the Simons Rock College campus in Great Barrington, and the other is of a large Stone Mansion that is now the administration building on the campus. Thought about it for a minute imagining that they would look really good hanging in my new Berkshire Country Homes office. They are now safely tucked away awaiting completion of the new office.
